A Revised Adiabatic Temperature Profile for the Mantle

چکیده
This study reevaluates the adiabatic temperature profile of Earth's mantle. The global average at 410-km discontinuity is estimated to be 1839 (38) K by comparing globally averaged depths with previously determined phase diagram olivine-wadsleyite transition in system (Mg,Fe)2SiO4 two temperatures. extrapolated shallower and deeper regions using gradient, which from pressure-volume-temperature relations heat capacities major mantle minerals, namely, olivine, wadselyite, ringwoodite, bridgmanite. experimental temperatures pressures original studies used these evaluations are recalculated recently proposed pressure correction on EMF W97Re3-W75Re25 thermocouple. uncertainties evaluated Monte Carlo simulation. found 1646 (35), 1994 (40), 1960 2587 (60) K, respectively, a 50-km depth, just above 660-km discontinuity, below 2,800-km depth. lower current estimation than those given Katsura et al. Temperature profile in the lowermost mantle from seismological and mineral physics joint modeling.
The internal structure of the core-mantle boundary (CMB) region of the Earth plays a crucial role in controlling the dynamics and evolution of our planet. We have developed a comprehensive model based on the radial variations of shear velocity in the D'' layer (the base of the lower mantle) and the high-P,T elastic properties of major candidate minerals, including the effects of post-perovskite...
متن کاملIncreased mantle convection during the midCretaceous A comparative study of mantle potential temperature
Mantle convection patterns of the past are not well known, yet an understanding of changing mantle convection characteristics i fundamental to understanding the evolution of plate tectonics. There are very few ways to examine mantle characteristics of the past. Changes in spreading rate and volcanic activity with time have been used to draw conclusions about historic changes in mantle activity....

15 صفحه اولinvestigating the feasibility of a proposed model for geometric design of deployable arch structures
deployable scissor type structures are composed of the so-called scissor-like elements (sles), which are connected to each other at an intermediate point through a pivotal connection and allow them to be folded into a compact bundle for storage or transport. several sles are connected to each other in order to form units with regular polygonal plan views. the sides and radii of the polygons are...
A Correlation for the Prediction of the Adiabatic Joule-Thomson Coefficient of Pure Gases and Gas Mixtures
A correlation based on the general form of cubic equations of state has been derived. This equation provides a convenient mathematical form of the Joule-Thomson coefficient in terms of the state variable V and T. The Joule-Thomson coefficient calculated by this correlation has been compared with experimental data. It has been shown that the Redilich-Kwang equation of state is a suitable equ...
